Duravit’s Closeup—Both on TV and Off-Camera

Leading bath fittings and fixture company Duravit has been making headlines recently, but not for its luxurious spa tubs or designer sink basins. Instead, toilets and bidets are stealing the spotlight. First, the DIY Network recently aired an episode of “Bath Crashers,” where Duravit’s eco-friendly D-Code toilet stood proudly in a young couple’s newly upgraded master bath. Designed by award-winning firm Sieger Design, D-Code is a full range of washbasins, showers, tubs, bath accessories, toilets, and bidets. The toilet model showcased on DIY Network is a high-efficiency one that’s WaterSense labeled by the EPA—and disguised as a sleek, wall-mounted sculpture that reads more like a piece of furniture.
The German manufacturer is no stranger to television, however: Duravit was featured in two previous episodes of “Bath Crashers” last year. Hosted by contractor Matt Muenster, the relatively new series broadcasting ambush bathroom makeovers also spotlighted Duravit’s Vero suite, Fogo products, and the Happy D toilet.Looking ahead, Duravit’s SensoWash Starck by celebrity designer Philippe Starck will finally come to the U.S. Launched last year overseas, the “shower toilets” will be making their way stateside on April 7 with an official launch party in New York. Comprising Sieger Design’s D-Code line and the Starck 3 Series, the range of shower toilets (because it’s more than a bidet, really) delivers haute design, but also a pleasant, hygienic experience. Starck’s line, like many of his other product designs, features such modern creature comforts as a remote-controlled lid and seat, self-cleaning wand, two user profiles for programming settings such as heated seat and water jet pressure, nighttime illumination, and integrated warm air dryer. The minimalist piece complements and coordinates with the Starck 3 Series one-piece, two-piece, and wall-mounted toilets.
